I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska. I then went on to become a certified teacher and have had the delightful experience of teaching many middle school subjects.I have taught and tutored grades 4 - 8 in math, science, English, reading, history, and writing. However, math is my true passion. As a teacher and a tutor I have realized that while I love math, it can be a challenging subject for many students. I have a great deal of success making math accessible to students who have previously had difficulty with it by breaking it down to the most basic components. Math can be thought of as a series of building blocks. Each level of math is one block and future levels are dependent upon the strong foundation of previous levels. If a student is struggling with a math concept it is usually because one of the previous levels wasn't strong enough. I find where the weakness is and address it before moving on to the current concept.When I'm not teaching or tutoring I enjoy spending time with my wife and child, watching all sports, cooking, watching movies, reading, and spending time with my friends.
