Hello! My name is Jessica and I am new to the D.C. area from Pittsburgh, PA. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from La Roche College with a 3.5 GPA. I also hold an Elementary Education (K-6th) Pennsylvania Certification. I did earn an award at La Roche which was the Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. I am currently getting my Masters in Education and Human Development at George Washington University. There, I will focus on working with children with emotional and behavioral disorders.
Experience
I have over eight years of tutoring and teaching children of all ages. I have worked in after school programs and summer camps through the YMCA and I served as a mentor and tutor through AmeriCorps. I did many community service projects and I designed my own service project on pollution and littering. I was a substitute for two years at a school district in the Pittsburgh, PA area. I was a paraprofessional at a Charter School in Pittsburgh. I worked with 7th graders with special needs. I provided progress monitoring and interventions. My most recent job was working as a Junior Kindergarten Teacher where I planned and implemented lessons for a wonderful group of children. I want to be a tutor because I truly care about a child's education. I love teaching children and helping them with subjects they may be struggling with. My goal is not only to teach a student something new but I want to do it in a fun and interesting way!

I am very outgoing and friendly! I am very patient and creative. I enjoy learning and trying new things. Whether it is trying a foreign food or water skiing, I am up for anything! I love staying physically active (biking, hiking, jogging). Being new to the area I am very excited to hiking on the beautiful trails. I love the arts; museums, films, music, art exhibits, etc. I really enjoy art and incorporating art into learning.
