Experience
I describe my tutoring style as tailored to each student. Everyone learns differently, and I am flexible in accommodating each student's learning style. I have been teaching since my sophomore year at Indiana University- Bloomington, where I received a Bachelor of Art in History and Spanish. I led a class as a Student Instructor that year in conversations about world affairs, globalization, and the college environment. In 2008 and 2009, I studied in Madrid, Spain. This helped greatly with my Spanish fluency, taught me about the Spanish culture, and how to live in a foreign country. After returning to the U.S., I worked in the Study Abroad Office at school, helping students make their own travel and study plans. I use my travel experiences when tutoring students in Spanish. Learning a language involves more than memorizing words and conjugating verbs. Incorporating real-world examples such as newspaper articles, movies and YouTube videos gives additional insight into the language and culture. I also enjoy teaching English Literature, college essay editing, public speaking, U.S. History, and U.S. Government. I worked in the House of Representatives as a Press Assistant and Legislative Aide, which accounts for my interest in the latter two subjects. I am also a Civil Affairs Specialist in the U.S. Army Reserves.
