Private tutor in Alexandria, VA
University of Virginia-Main Campus - Current Undergrad, Politics Honors and Economics
I went to the University of Virginia to earn my bachelor's degree in economics and politics. I was also part of the honors program and had a full scholarship. I love teaching, I take advantage of opportunities to help others learn throughout my college career. I'm someone who had a lot of trouble understanding things in class, and I saw my classmates passing me up. I had to figure out how I learned best so that I could catch up and be successful as a student. This has allowed me to find success in academics. I know what students are going through when they become frustrated trying to learn something. My empathy for the students I work with to help them overcome learning obstacles is an important quality in a good tutor. I understand that everybody learns in their own unique way, so I adjust my approach to match each student and help them build upon their strengths while filling the gaps wherever necessary. My experience includes working as a teaching assistant in economics courses and teaching debate. I'm comfortable working with students of any age and level of ability, and I've helped everyone from elementary school students to college students. I enjoy helping students in subjects such as economics, math, writing, and standardized test prep. In my free time, I like to travel to restaurants, eat good food, travel, figure skate, and listen to music.
