Experience
I graduated from SUNY - Geneseo with a bachelor's degree in personal and professional communications, as well as a minor in sociology. In addition to my bachelor's degree, I have experience tutoring at an international organization in London, as well as experience working as a teacher's assistant where I was given the opportunity to work with a number of students and help them gain a deeper understanding of various materials in the classroom. In my experience, one of the most effective ways to help students grasp challenging academic concepts is to adopt a teaching strategy that incorporates hands-on activities and visual aids. For this reason, I like to include learning tools, tables, charts, and various other learning resources that make it easier for students to understand how such concepts are used in the real world. I believe that no two students learn in the same fashion and that everyone can overcome their academic hurdles when they're able to work with a teacher who's willing to put in the effort and come up with customized lessons designed specifically with the student's needs in mind. As a tutor, I have experience teaching a number of subjects, including sociology, standardized test prep, history, writing, and public speaking. When I'm not working in education, I like to watch independent films and go shopping.
